The 2026 Flight School Fellowship: Your Global Gap-Year Vetted

At Potenue, we champion Information Equity. We know the “Noise” of high-tuition gap years often shuts out brilliant Changemakers. The Flight School Fellowship claims to rewire how a generation leads, but for 2026, you need to understand the difference between the “Program Fee” and the “Real-World Cost.”

The ‘No-Gatekeeping’ Financial Breakdown

The Flight School uses a Sliding Scale model to ensure a diverse cohort. They are committed to ensuring that money isn’t the barrier to your Institutional Seal.

  • Application Fee: $0. (It costs nothing to submit your initial written and video application).
  • Tuition/Program Fee: This is Variable. They offer “Needs-Blind” admission, meaning they pick you based on your Social Proof and potential, then figure out the cost based on what your family can actually afford.
  • Full Scholarships: A limited number of $0 Tuition seats are available for high-potential leaders from underrepresented backgrounds.

Are There Any Hidden Charges? (The Potenue Vetting)

You must look at what happens outside the digital classroom. This is a Hybrid program, which creates specific “Hidden” expenses:

  1. The ‘IRL’ Residency Costs: HIDDEN CHARGE. The fellowship includes in-person gatherings (residencies). While the program may cover the event cost, you are typically responsible for your own flights and travel to these global locations.
  2. Tech Requirements: You MUST have a reliable high-speed internet connection and a laptop capable of video conferencing for 9 months. If you are in a remote area, the cost of data and hardware is your responsibility.
  3. Local Project Funding: Part of the “Launch Year” involves co-creating projects in your local community. While they provide mentorship, they do not always provide the startup capital for your individual local initiatives.
  4. Visa Fees: If a residency is held in a country where you need a visa (like the US or EU), the $100–$200 application fee is on you.

Eligibility: Who is a ‘Launch Year’ Candidate?

  • Age: Must be at least 18 by July 31, 2026.
  • Education: Must have graduated high school between May 2025 and June 2026.
  • The Global Hook: Open to all nationalities, but you must be proficient in English and have a parent/guardian’s consent if you are under the legal age in your country.
  • Commitment: You must be available for the full duration: August 3, 2026 – May 29, 2027.

How to Crack the Flight School Application

This is an Elite selection process. They don’t want a “Student”; they want a “Co-Creator.”

  1. Embrace the Discomfort: In your video responses, talk about a time you felt “un-aimed” or lost and how you navigated that uncertainty. They value Intuition over achievements.
  2. The ‘Community’ Angle: Prove you are a team player. Mention how you plan to “care for the collective” during the 9 months.
  3. Initiative: Show them what you’ve already started. Whether it’s a small blog, a local protest, or a community garden, Social Proof of your initiative is the fastest way to an offer.

The ‘Potenue’ FAQ

Q: Is this a flight school for pilots?

A: No. This is a common bit of “Noise.” Despite the name, it is a Leadership and Life Design fellowship. You are learning how to “take flight” in your adult life, not in an airplane.

Q: Can I do this while in college?

A: No. The Fellowship requires a full-time commitment. It is specifically designed as a Launch Year instead of starting university immediately.
