What Is This Opportunity?
The AGNES-BAYER grant supports outstanding doctoral research in biodiversity conservation and/or sustainable agriculture that matters for development in sub-Saharan Africa.
- It funds research activities within your PhD, not tuition.
- Your proposal must show how the work is relevant to development in sub-Saharan African countries.

- Publications: at least one scientific paper in a non-predatory journal, indexed in SCOPUS or Web of Science
- Record: an outstanding academic record with quality peer-reviewed publications
- Field: biodiversity conservation and/or sustainable agriculture

- Carry out the research activities in your proposal, starting between 11 January and 31 March 2027

- Submit a completion report within 6 months of finishing your PhD

How to Apply
- Read the call on the official AGNES page and download the AGNES 2026 CV template.
- Write an original research proposal (maximum 5 pages, in English) with your activities and timeline.
- Prepare your CV, proof of doctoral enrolment, academic transcripts, a list of publications with SCOPUS or Web of Science links, and a detailed budget.
- Submit everything through the official online form.
Selected applicants are notified in December 2026.
