The European University Institute (EUI) is a global hub for research and policy. If you are a graduate looking to launch a career in European affairs, communications, or library science, the EUI traineeship is your front-row seat to the intellectual heart of the EU.
1. The Financial Package for EUI Traineeship (2026 Update)
- The Monthly Grant: Since January 1, 2026, the stipend has been increased to €1,540 per month.
- Travel Support: Trainees recruited from outside Florence receive reimbursement for their travel expenses at the beginning and end of the assignment.
- The “Florence Tax” (Hidden Costs): Florence is a tourist-heavy city. While €1,540 is generous, private housing can swallow €700–€900 of that. EUI’s own housing requires a one-month deposit and a €60 sanitization fee.
2. Critical Deadlines (2026 Cycle)
Deadlines at the EUI vary by department. Unlike the “Blue Book” which has two fixed windows, EUI positions open periodically:
