1. Financial & “Hidden” Realities of Young Leaders in National Security Fellowship
This is a fully funded opportunity, meaning there is no tuition fee for the course.
- Travel: CEG provides financial support to cover travel costs within the UK.
- Accommodation: Includes six nights of accommodation in central London.
- Stipend: A small daily per diem is provided to cover living expenses during the week.
- The “Hidden” Cost: If you are an international applicant, you will likely need to cover your own international flights to the UK, as the travel support specifically mentions “within the UK.”
2. Critical Dates (2026 Cycle)
- Application Deadline: June 5, 2026 (5:00 PM GMT).
- Interviews: Last two weeks of June (conducted online).
- Fellowship Dates: September 7 – September 11, 2026.

- The “No-AI” Declaration: CEG has a strict Generative AI policy. You must include a signed declaration stating you did not use AI to write your essays. Do not use ChatGPT/Gemini for this application; they prioritize original, human reasoning.
- The Essay Hook: You must answer: “What is the single biggest extremist threat facing Britain today? Why? What is the best argument that you are wrong?” * Tip: The “best argument that you are wrong” part is the most important. It tests your ability to handle nuance—a key trait for intelligence work.
- The Influencer: You need to cite a specific book, article, or thinker that shaped your view on terrorism (200 words max).
- Submission: All documents (CV, Cover Letter, Essays, AI Declaration) must be sent as a single Word or PDF attachment to the official email listed on the Counter Extremism Group website.
