The Asia Journalism Fellowship (AJF) is a high-prestige, fully funded program that brings together the most impactful journalists from across Asia for a period of intensive professional development and cross-cultural exchange. Hosted in Singapore, this fellowship is designed to sharpen your reporting skills and build an elite network of peers.
Fellowship Structure
The 2026 program is divided into two distinct phases to ensure both flexibility and deep immersion:
- Virtual Component (4 Weeks): Conducted online, allowing fellows to engage in seminars and workshops from their home countries.
- Physical Component (4 Weeks): An in-person residency in Singapore, focusing on field visits, networking, and collaborative projects.
Financial Benefits: What is Covered?
Selected fellows receive a comprehensive support package intended to cover the core costs of participation:
- Stipends: A total of S$1,200 provided across the program (S$300 for the online phase and S$900 for the Singapore residency).
- Travel: Round-trip economy class airfare to Singapore.
- Accommodation: Fully funded stay in shared serviced apartments for the duration of the in-person segment.
- Visa Support: Assistance with the entry visa process, including a reimbursement of up to S$40 for visa fees.
Eligibility & Requirements
To qualify for this elite fellowship, applicants must meet the following standards:
- Experience: Professional journalists with at least five years of full-time experience.
- Location: Open to journalists currently working in Asia.
- Employer Consent: Employed applicants must provide a letter from their organization confirming their release for the full 8-week period.
- Mandatory Insurance: All fellows are required to purchase comprehensive travel insurance at their own expense for the duration of the residency.
