Who Can Apply? Strict Eligibility Rules

This opportunity is not open to the general public. To be eligible, candidates must fulfill the following criteria:

  1. Alumni Requirement: You must be a former recipient of a DAAD study or research scholarship that was funded for more than 6 months. (Former EPOS Master’s/PhD scholars are also eligible).
  2. Residence Requirement: You must have returned to your home country and not lived in Germany for at least the past 3 years.
  3. Host Institution Confirmation: You must independently obtain a formal invitation/acceptance letter from a recognized host university or research center in Germany prior to applying.
  4. 3-Year Frequency Rule: Re-invitation grants can only be claimed once every 3 years.

Yes! Indian citizens who are former DAAD scholars are 100% eligible.

Graduates, doctoral researchers, university faculty, postdocs, and mid-career professionals from India who meet the alumni criteria can apply directly through the DAAD portal.

    • €2,000 / month for assistant professors, lecturers, and non-academic professionals.
