The Government of Belgium, through the Académie de Recherche et d’Enseignement Supérieur (ARES), has officially opened applications for its flagship ARES International Scholarships for the 2027/28 academic year!
This scholarship provides complete financial support to professionals and students from designated developing countries to undertake advanced studies in Belgium.

The ARES Scholarship is 100% free to apply for (no application or processing fees) and provides comprehensive coverage, including:

- Monthly Living Allowance: A stipend of €1,150/month to cover accommodation and meals.
- Health & Accident Insurance: Full insurance coverage during your stay in Belgium.

Eligibility Criteria & Requirements
To qualify for the ARES scholarship, applicants must meet all of the following requirements:
- Eligible Nationalities: Must be a permanent resident currently living and working in one of ARES’s 32 designated partner countries across Africa, Latin America, and Asia (e.g., Nepal, Philippines, Indonesia, Cambodia, Vietnam, Palestine, Kenya, Rwanda, Senegal, DR Congo, etc.).
- Note: Indian citizens and residents are not eligible for this specific program.
- Work Experience: At least 2 years of professional experience in a relevant field after completing your degree.
- Age Limit:
- Under 40 years old for Specialized Bachelor’s and Master’s programs.
- Under 45 years old for Continuing Education (short-term training courses).
- Academic Background: Must hold a degree equivalent to a Belgian Bachelor’s or Master’s depending on the program selected.

- Applications Open: August 3, 2026
- GIRAF Account Creation Deadline: September 4, 2026 (16:00 Belgian Time)
- Final Application Deadline: September 18, 2026 (12:00 PM UTC+1)
- Selection Results: Around June 2027
