Czech Republic Government Scholarships 2027–2028: Study in the Heart of Europe

The Government of the Czech Republic offers official scholarships within its Foreign Development Cooperation program to support foreign nationals from specific developing countries studying at public institutions of higher education in the Czech Republic. This long-standing program has helped over 20,000 international students complete their university education since the late 1950s.

Key Program Deadlines & Timeline

  • Application Period: 21 August until 30 September 2026.
  • Academic Start: Successful applicants will begin their studies in the 2027/2028 academic year.

Eligible Countries

Scholarships for the 2027/2028 academic year are exclusively offered to citizens of the following nations:

  • Europe: Bosnia and Herzegovina, Georgia, Ukraine, Belarus (democratic forces)
  • Africa: Ethiopia, Gabon, Mauritania, Zambia
  • Asia: Bangladesh, Cambodia, Palestine
  • Latin America: Guatemala, Honduras

Available Study Programmes & Language Tracks

The scholarships cover standard full-time study formats:

  1. Pursued in the Czech Language:
    • Two-year follow-up Master’s study programmes in selected areas for applicants from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Georgia, Ukraine, and Belarus.
    • Includes a mandatory one-year preparatory course in the Czech language provided by Charles University’s Institute for Language and Preparatory Studies.
  2. Pursued in the English Language (Open to all eligible countries):
    • Selected two-year follow-up Master’s study programmes.
    • Selected three- to four-year Doctoral study programmes.

Core Eligibility & Application Requirements

  • Prerequisites:
    • Applicants for a follow-up Master’s program must have completed a Bachelor’s degree.
    • Applicants for a Doctoral program must have completed a Master’s degree.
  • English Proficiency Test: Applicants choosing English-medium studies must sit an online entrance English language test during the application process.
  • Exclusions: Citizens of the Czech Republic, EU citizens, and foreign nationals holding a permanent residence permit in the Czech Republic are ineligible to apply.
  • Submission Limit: Each applicant can register only once and submit a single application. A complete file requires a motivation letter and mandatory tests (general study prerequisites plus an English test if applying for English-medium tracks).
