Overview
The Asian Cultural Council (ACC) has funded cultural exchange since 1963. Applications are accepted from 1 October to 10 November 2026 at 9:59 AM US Eastern Time.
ACC funds open-ended research and exchange rather than finished productions. The idea is to give artists and scholars time and money to explore, meet peers and learn, without pressure to deliver a show or exhibition.
There are four programmes. You can apply to only one per cycle.
- New York Fellowship: six months in the US for artists, scholars and arts professionals from Asia.
- Individual Fellowship: one to six months of research or cultural exchange. Up to three people can apply jointly.
- Graduate Fellowship: support for students from Asia in US graduate degree programmes.
- Organization Grant: support for arts and culture organisations in Asia and the US.
What Will You Do?
That depends on your programme. New York fellows spend six months immersed in the city’s arts scene and the wider US. Individual fellows design their own research trip, such as studying a craft tradition, visiting archives or meeting artists in another country. Organisations use the grant to send teams abroad for research, peer collaboration or access to regional arts communities.
How to make your Asian Cultural Council Grants application stronger
ACC backs exploration, so a clear plan for what you want to learn and whom you want to meet matters more than a polished final product. Name real people, places and institutions where you can.
