Ireland Fellowship Program

Ireland Fellowship Program 2027/2028

For early to mid-career professionals with leadership potential from eligible developing nations, the Ireland Fellowship Programme provides an entirely entry-free, prestigious route to pursue a fully funded master’s degree at a higher education institution in Ireland.

Key Program Details: Ireland Fellowship

  • Which Degree People Can Apply: Applicants must hold a valid bachelor’s degree (awarded within the last 12 years) with a minimum GPA equivalent to a 3.0 on a 4.0 scale (First Class or upper-Second Class Honours). You are ineligible if you already hold a master’s degree or higher.
  • Age Criteria:
    • Minimum Age: 18 years old.
    • Maximum Age: None.
  • Can International People Apply? Yes, but it is resident-country specific. The program is open to resident citizens of eligible countries across Africa, Asia, Latin America, the Middle East, the Pacific, and Small Island Developing States (SIDS). You must be living in your home country at the time of application.

Execution Strategy & The Catch

  • How to Apply: Complete the Stage 1 online portal preliminary application (expression of interest) via your country’s specific Irish Aid portal or designated local embassy path.
  • How to Crack It: Ensure your choice of three eligible master’s courses directly mirrors the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and priorities outlined by your local Irish Mission Strategy. Your personal statement must clearly prove your intent and potential to return home to contribute to your country’s development.
  • Any Catch or Hidden Charges? There are zero application fees, and the award is a true “full ride”—covering 100% of university tuition fees, economy return flights, comprehensive health insurance, visa and residence permit fees, a settling-in allowance, and a €700 monthly living stipend.
    • The structural catches:
      1. The Dependent Trap: Funding, accommodation allowances, and visa pathways strictly cover the recipient only. Absolutely no financial or relocation support is provided for spouses or children.
      2. Out-of-Pocket Testing: Shortlisted candidates moving past Stage 1 must prove English proficiency. If you don’t already hold a valid IELTS certificate (dated 2024 or later), you must complete an online Duolingo English Test or equivalent exam.
      3. Experience Caps: You must possess a minimum of 2 to 3 years of substantial, continuous work experience that is directly relevant to your selected course tracks.
