Full Sponsorship Benefits

Selected fellows will receive complete financial support from the United Nations, covering:

  • International Travel: Round-trip economy airfare to Geneva, Switzerland.
  • Living Allowance: Monthly stipend to cover housing, meals, and local living expenses in Geneva.
  • Health Insurance: Basic health and accident insurance for the duration of the fellowship.
  • UN Access & Training: Direct access to UN sessions (including the Expert Mechanism on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples – EMRIP) and specialized training modules.

Eligibility Criteria

The OHCHR fellowship is designed to be accessible to grassroots community leaders:

  • Indigenous Identity: Open exclusively to Indigenous individuals (including Adivasi and Scheduled Tribe members from India).
  • Community Endorsement: Candidates must be nominated and supported by an Indigenous community or organization.
  • Academic Qualifications: No formal educational degree is required.
  • Age Limit: No age restrictions.
  • Language Proficiency: Proficient in at least one of the following languages: English, French, Spanish, or Portuguese.
  • Return Commitment: Must be committed to sharing the acquired knowledge and training others in their community after completing the fellowship.
